Saturday, August 4th: Thailand’s boxing hero Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (46-4-1) will make his third straight defense of his coveted world boxing council super-flyweight world championship title on Saturday the 6th of October.

The pugilist who will stand toe-to-toe with the champ is Mexican warrior, Iran Diaz, a boxer coming into this highly anticipated clash with a professional record of (14-2-3), since he turned pro in 2008.

The contest will take place at the MuangThongThani indoor arena on the outskirts of Bangkok, in what we expect to be a sellout crowd looking to cheer on their national sporting icon.

Srisaket recently had a warm up contest against Korean fighter Young Gail Bae (28-7-2) — on July 21st — a short lived affair, after Srisaket peppered his foe with venomous punches from the opening bell forcing Bae into submission, after just under two minutes into the opening stanza.

Diaz for his part most recently fought to a drawn decision against his compatriot, Adolfo Castillo (7-0-2) — that contest took place on June 9th in Mexico. Diaz is currently ranked #13 in WBC super-flyweight world rankings.

On behalf of WBC Asia President Pol. Gen. Kovid Bhakdibhumi and all the team at the Asian Boxing Council we wish both fighters our best wishes for the impending clash.
