Global boxing superstar Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will headline the upcoming WP boxing promotion, which takes place at the WorkPoint tv studios on the outskirts of Bangkok.

The all conquering Thai superstar hasn’t seen competitive ring activity since successfully defending his coveted WBC world title against Juan Francisco Estrada, back in February of this year.

The Main Event:

Srisaket (45-4-1) will face off against Korean boxer Young Gil Bae (28-6-2) — in a 10-rounder — set at 120 Lbs, 5 pounds above the super-flyweight division, where Srisaket is the current WBC world champion.

Young, a former WBC Asia flyweight champion, is no stranger to fighting on Thai shores, he has competed in the pro ranks a total of sixteen times in the Kingdom, winning 13, losing 2 and in his most recent he fought to a draw with Kittisak Boonchaiming (1-0-1).

Srisaket, himself a former WBC Asia champion and now of course a two-time, and current WBC super-flyweight world champion, will be looking to get some much needed ring action under his belt ahead of his highly anticipated voluntary defense of his coveted world title on the 6th of October, here in Bangkok, against a yet unnamed opponent.

The Prelude:

Former WBC world title challenger Nawapon Nakornluang (41-1-0) wil face off against Japan’s Shota Kawaguchi (21-10-1) for the vacant WBC Asia bantamweight championship belt.

Thailand’s Nawapon is fresh off a TKO victory over his compatriot and former world champion, Amnat Ruenroeng, a contest which took place on a previous WP boxing promotion back in April of this year — Nawapon put in a fantastic performance to defeat the veteran and extend his winning streak to five, since that devastating world title loss to Mexico’s Juan Hernandez Navarrete, back in 2017.

Shota, for his part is coming off two losses in the squared circle, and will be looking to get his career back on track against the silky Thai boxer — both of those losses came on home turf, in Tokyo.

The WP boxing event takes place at the WorkPoint tv studios on the outskirts of Bangkok, on Saturday the 21st of July with six scheduled contests on the card.
